USA: 2.5% increase in sales during Black Friday-Mastercard SpendingPulse

Nov 25 (Archyde.com) – U.S. retail sales on Black Friday rose 2.5 percent year over year, according to Mastercard’s SpendingPulse metric, excluding auto sales and without taking into account inflation.

For the holiday season in the United States, which lasts from November 1 to December 24, SpendingPulse anticipates growth of 3.7% in retail sales in stores and online, all forms of payment combined and excluding automobile sales.

According to Spendingpulse, online sales were up 8.5% year over year on Friday while in-store sales were up 1.1%.

U.S. consumers spent $9.8 billion online during Black Friday this year, according to Adobe Analytics data, in line with its estimates.
