Usbek & Rica – AI-powered brain implant breaks speed record for turning thoughts into text

MONITORING / Linking a brain implant to an AI to allow paralyzed people to express themselves is the challenge that a team of scientists from Stanford University decided to take up. Their device is able to convert simple thoughts into text and intelligible audio in record time.

If the experiments have only been carried out on one person for the moment, the results are already very positive, note the researchers in their study published at the end of January in the scientific journal bioRxiv. Indeed, the patient can now speak at a speed of 62 words per minute, thanks to the implant placed by the researchers, once morest a usual rate of regarding 160 words per minute.
