CORONAVIRUS – While the second recall against the Covid-19 has been expanded pregnant women at the end of July, a large study confirms that the vaccines messenger RNA do not represent a risk during pregnancy. The results of the work carried out by the Canadian National Vaccine Safety (CANVAS) on 200,000 vaccinated pregnant women were published this Thursday, August 11 in the scientific journal The Lancet.
According to the results of the study, one week after being vaccinated with Pfizer or Moderna, pregnant women had no more miscarriages or stillbirths than unvaccinated pregnant women. They did not take more sick leave, see a new health problem arise or note the aggravation of a medical problem subsequent to the vaccination.
Enough to convince recalcitrant pregnant women to get vaccinated? At the start of the year, 30% of pregnant women were not vaccinated against Covid in France.
“Pregnant women who have contracted Covid-19 are more likely than the general population to develop a severe form of the disease, to be admitted to intensive care and to require respiratory assistance”indicates the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM) on its site.
According to the ANSM, “they are four times more likely to be admitted to intensive care than women of the same age who are not pregnant”especially since “This risk increases as pregnancy progresses”.
