Valentin was found dead in the water in Ghent: no signs of violence were found on his body

The external examination of the body of Valentin Footman, aged 23 and from Incourt in Walloon Brabant, shows no signs of violence, which would suggest the intervention of a third party, the East Flanders prosecutor’s office said on Friday. . The young man had disappeared during the night from Friday to Saturday after being refused access to the “Kompass Klub” nightclub, located in Ghent. His body was recovered from the water on Thursday.

There is no sign of the intervention of a third party, but toxicological analyzes are still in progress, said the prosecution.

A search notice had been published Monday by the federal police in order to find the trace of the young man, originally from Incourt. He had been seen for the last time around 12:30 a.m. in front of the Kompass Klub, where he had been turned away because he was allegedly too drunk.

Monday morning, dozens of police inspected the banks of the Nieuwe Dokken and a helicopter flew over the area where the young man disappeared. On Tuesday, three boats equipped with sonars and two teams of divers were also deployed while the surroundings and interior of the nightclub were combed through. On Wednesday, the search focused on examining images from video surveillance cameras in the neighborhood, without result. It was not until Thursday that the body of the Brabant was found by divers.
