The followers of Egidio Cuadrado, Rey Vallenato from 1985 and eternal accordion player of Carlos Vives, are worried after it became known that the musician is hospitalized in an intensive care unit in Bucaramanga.

As reported in local media, health complications for the 70-year-old accordion player led him to be hospitalized since last December 18. On Thursday, January 11, he underwent surgery at the Foscal Clinic in Bucaramanga, Santander, where he remains in the ICU.

The famous Colombian folklore musician underwent a biopsy, the results of which are still pending. While more details are known about Cuadrado’s health, the clinic’s medical team maintains a constant review of the accordion player’s progress.

During these difficult times for Egidio and his family, the accordion player has been accompanied by the Samarian singer Carlos Vives and his wife Claudia Elena Vives, who have visited him at the medical center in Bucaramanga.

For its part, from the Vallenato Legend Festival, an event that in 1985 crowned Egidio Cuadrado as the Vallenato King, a message was sent on social networks wishing that the health of the Vallenato artist improves soon.

“Prompt recovery for King Vallenato Egidio Cuadrado, who underwent surgery in the city of Bucaramanga. Go ahead teacher!” they wrote on their social networks.

During the last few months, Egidio Cuadrado’s followers were concerned when they noticed that the musician lost a lot of weight. So now, on digital platforms friends, colleagues and fans send messages of speedy recovery to one of the most important accordion players in Colombia.

On December 15, the accordion player accompanied Carlos Vives on stage at the El Campín stadium in Bogotá, in the middle of the celebration of Samarium’s 30-year career.
