Mathieu van der Poel makes the show on the bike, but also on social networks. After a comment from him last week, a real frenzy set in between him and the Giro public on an original subject: pineapple on pizzas.
Let’s go back to the start of the story. Last Sunday, following a hard day spent in the breakaway, the Dutchman reacted to a photo of him in which he appears very tired with a pizza on his knees. In comment, he hinted that pineapple was missing on it, which seems like an excess in Italy.
The official Giro account then launched a challenge to the first pink jersey of the Tour of Italy: if he wins a new stage, the community manager team will eat a pineapple pizza.
