The gendarmes opened fire, aiming at the tires of the vehicle, but the car continued its course until the Court Saint-Damase, inside the Vatican. The driver surrendered and was arrested by local authorities.
“He was immediately subjected to a medical examination (…) which noted a serious psychophysical alteration” of the driver, specified the press service of the Holy See.
