Within the framework of the VIII Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the governments of Venezuela and Mexico signed a comprehensive migration agreement through the Plan Vuelta a la Patria.

The signing of the document – which took place at the Sandals Hotel in Buccament Bay, located in the Caribbean country – seeks to “consolidate and advance the Return to the Homeland Plan to protect our compatriots in Mexico,” said the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, during the meeting where they addressed various topics of common interest.

Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto signed for the Venezuelan government, while his counterpart Alicia Bárcena signed on behalf of Mexico.

Meeting with Honduras

During the Celac summit, President Maduro also met with his Honduran counterpart, Xiomara Castro de Zelaya.

Both dignitaries reiterated the willingness of their Governments to strengthen cooperative relations in areas of common interest and the fight against imperialism.

Recently, the vice minister for Latin America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rander Peña, held a meeting with the Honduran ambassador accredited to Venezuela, Scarleth Romero, in which the diplomats took stock of the political relationship and cooperation developed between these nations.

Progress was made in the construction of the new cooperation map that will guide relations during 2024, a period in which Honduras will preside over the Latin American Economic System (Sela) and the Central American Integration System (Sica), according to a press release. of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
