Venezuela participates in the preparatory meeting for the Caribe Wave exercise

This Saturday authorities of the National Risk Management System participated in the first virtual meeting corresponding to the International Exercise Caribe Wave 2023. This prevention initiative undertaken by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Unesco, so that countries have the necessary knowledge to face adverse situations such as a tsunami.

The information was published through the twitter account of the Ministry for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, in a message indicating that the date of the exercise will be February 23, 2023.

It also informs that the simulacrum It has the active participation of 45 territories, including Venezuela, as well as two observer members, Canada and Peru.

“The simulacrum It will be carried out with two events in parallel, one in the Gulf of Honduras and the other in the north of the island of Martinique. Each participating country must focus its attention according to the event that it has chosen for this action,” the entity indicated.

The activity will last four and a half hours starting at 10:00 in the morning. On the other hand, depending on the event in which it is decided to focus the greatest performance, it will take place in the east or west of the country.

In Venezuela, the tsunami simulation exercise will be carried out under the coordination of the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (Funvisis), an entity attached to the Vice Ministry for Risk Management and Civil Protection.
