In what should have been a win against Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders had to taste a heavy defeat on the back of Yashaswi Jaiswal’s brilliant batting. Chasing a target of 150 runs in 13.1 overs, the hosts suffered a miserable 9-wicket defeat against the visitors.
Venkatesh Iyer, who batted patiently and scored 57 runs off 42 balls, gave KKR a chance to take comfort. KKR, who were 29/2 at one point, needed a partnership. It was then that Iyer and Nitish Rana tried to form a partnership and stabilize the team.
But his innings had a slow start. Despite scoring a half-century, his slow start made it challenging for KKR to score well. Akash Chopra pointed out that Venkatesh’s slow start to his innings affected the final score.
