Veronica – the game was almost ready

A fan-made remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica on the Unity engine was canceled shortly before release. This was reported by the portal The Gamer with reference to the authors of the project.

Development was halted at the request of Capcom, which owns the rights to the franchise. The authors of the remake stated that the reason for this was the use of the name Resident Evil and its characters, however, some other fan works escaped claims from the studio. At the same time, the former producer of the franchise declaredthat Capcom is not going to release a remake of Code: Veronica.

The original Resident Evil Code: Veronica was released in 2000 on the Dreamcast and later received improvements on the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube. In 2011, a remaster was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Metacritic score of the title delivers 94 out of 100 from critics and 8.9 out of 10 from users. The fan-made Unity remake was supposed to get a third-person camera and be released for free chapter by chapter.
