Verstappen has no interest in continuing disputes with Russell

Verstappen eager to Leave 2024 Drama Behind

Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has declared his intention to move on from the heated rivalry wiht Mercedes driver George Russell that culminated in a contentious exchange at the Abu Dhabi season finale.Speaking at the recent Formula 1 launch event in London, Verstappen emphasized his desire to focus on the upcoming season.

“To be honest, I have no interest in continuing any beef in february,” Verstappen stated. “I still enjoy my time away from Formula 1 and are preparing for the season, so I really have nothing to say on this topic,” he added, shutting down any further discussion on the matter.

Russell echoed Verstappen’s sentiment, stating, “We have not spoken, there are no concerns about him, his driving style or anything of what happened last year.” The Mercedes driver is keen on keeping his focus on his own performance, declaring, “I want to focus on myself.”

No Change in Driving style

While acknowledging that there were some “out-of-place” moments towards the end of the previous season, Russell stressed that he won’t alter his approach. “Of course, at the end of last year, I had the feeling that things were a little bit out of mind, and I have quite clarified that I don’t take it that way. But now is 2025 and I’m concentrating on the job.And that job is to be won,”

he said. “So I will not change my approach, to fight him, fight against other drivers – the goal is the same.”

Q: George, what’s yoru perspective on last year’s rivalry and how it’s influenced your approach to this season?

Russell: “We haven’t spoken since, and there are no concerns on my end about Max’s driving style or any of last year’s incidents. I want to focus on my own performance and continue pushing for wins. My driving style won’t change; I’ll keep fighting as always.

Avoiding Distractions on the track

Q: Both of you have mentioned moving on and avoiding distractions. How do you plan to keep your focus on the track this season?

Verstappen: “By staying present and concentrating on each race as it comes. Last year’s incidents are in the past, and I’m solely focused on what I can control – my driving and my team’s performance.

Russell: “For me, it’s about maintaining a clear mind and keeping my goals in sight. I won’t let any external factors disrupt my focus on winning. I’m here to compete at the highest level, and that’s where my energy will be directed.

Are We in for Another Intense Season?

Q: Given the talent and competition in Formula 1, can we expect another thrilling season filled with rivalry and excitement?

Verstappen & Russell (in unison): “Absolutely! That’s what makes Formula 1 so exciting. We’re all here to win, and the competition will undoubtedly heat up as the season progresses. But for now, our focus is on ourselves and starting the season strong in Bahrain.”
