Verstappen still doesn’t like Netflix’s F1 series

Although he ended his ‘boycott’ of Drive to Survive, Max Verstappen is still not a fan of the Netflix series and did not enjoy the role. The defending champion isn’t sympathetic to looking behind the scenes either, saying some things are better kept private in the paddock.

In all likelihood, the Neflix series also plays a major role in the fact that the popularity of Formula 1 has increased spectacularly in recent years, although the evaluation of the series has been divisive for a long time: according to critics, it is too contrived, sometimes even the chronology of the events is sacrificed on the altar of dramaturgy. .

Others argue that Drive to Survive is an entertainment show, and it’s a shame it has a “documentary quality”. The topic also divides the members of the field, some are happy to appear in the show, while others try to stay away from it.

Among the latter is Max Verstappen, who did not even appear in the series for a long time. Although he has already ended his voluntary “boycott”, his opinion about Drive to Survive is still not very positive. In connection with the latest episodes, for example, he talked about how he did not enjoy the recording and his “role” in the current season at all.

“You don’t see a lot of Drive to Survive because I don’t like doing it” – said the three-time world champion to the Project. “Probably my better self doesn’t really understand (from acting) either, since it’s just an interview.”

“I’m just sitting in a dark room and… and I hate it. There are questions, but they are only related to Formula 1, and I don’t like to talk about them anyway” – he continued, then indicated that he does not agree with the series’ commitment to show how “things go behind the scenes” in the world of F1.

He prefers not to take part in this. “Some things are more private. People don’t need to know what we do or say” – concluded the Dutchman, who, based on his results, could be an important player in the 2024 season as well.
