There is still good news for the Verviers courthouse. They concern the extensions of the Palace of Justice, which is often called “the new palace”. “Roof repair work is underway. It is also planned to publish a public contract for the placement of around 120 solar panels on the roof of the extension of the Palais de Justice,” we are told by the Buildings Authority.

A person involved in the matter in Verviers informs us that this roofing work began a month and a half ago, although it was announced last spring. To do this, scaffolding was placed on the facade including the entrance to the new palace, scaffolding which should apparently be removed by the end of the month to be moved to the inner courtyard.
“Repairing the roof is a good idea because that way it will no longer rain in the offices on the 4th floor,” emphasizes President Serge Marcy. To continue the work of the offices in this new wing, the Buildings Authority is currently studying the relocation of certain jurisdictions of the FPS Justice: the Police Court, the Business Court and the Police Prosecutor’s Office. They should move to the FPS Finances building, located rue de Dison. “The Régie des Bâtiments is in discussion with the services concerned on this subject. The Buildings Authority will then look at the specifications in order to carry out the necessary work,” concludes the spokesperson.
