Life sentences in the Arbery Trial

Almost two years after the murder of the black jogger Ahmaud Arbery, the court in the US state of Georgia has pronounced a verdict. The three white defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment, with the shooter and his father given no parole and an additional 20 years in prison. Judge Timothy Walmsley announced on Friday. The third accused was also sentenced to life imprisonment, albeit with the option of parole. The father of the man who fired the fatal shots at Arbery and the third convict were involved in the persecution of Arbery. They had followed Arbery in a truck while jogging for about 5 minutes. After a skirmish, the perpetrator shot Arbery at close range. The men claim they thought Arbery was a burglar. A jury found the three defendants guilty as early as November, now the sentence has been pronounced.
