Solar Storm shuts down 40 newly launched SpaceX satellites
A so-called “solar storm” has destroyed at least 40 of 49 satellites of the “Starlink” project of the company SpaceX. This was announced by the US company on Tuesday. The satellites burned up in the Earth’s atmosphere. The artificial celestial bodies had only been launched into space by rocket last Thursday. At that time, there were already warnings about the effects of the solar storm. It was not immediately clear why SpaceX did not respond. According to experts, the incident was the largest collective loss of satellites to date as a result of a single geomagnetic event. With the “Starlink” project, the space company, in which Elon Musk is also involved, wants to establish Internet connections for remote regions on Earth.
