Turkey appoints ten ambassadors because of activist Kavala

An immediate release of Osman Kavala and a just and quick solution called for several embassies, including the German one, in a statement to Turkey. Now the Turkish Foreign Ministry has summoned the ambassadors of Germany and other countries because of the declaration. The demand casts a shadow on the diplomatic representatives’ understanding of law and democracy, wrote the interior minister on Twitter. Kavala has been detained in Turkey for four years without having been convicted. He was acquitted of protests-related charges in 2013. But the verdict was overturned that year and linked to charges of attempted coup in 2016. Human rights organizations see the trials as an example of the crackdown under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan against those who think differently.

“Ambassadors who make a recommendation and a proposal to the judiciary in an ongoing process are unacceptable,” Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu wrote on Twitter.
