Vienna: Climate activists paralyze commuter traffic

Climate activists of the Organization “Last Generation” glued themselves to the streets in front of schools in Vienna during the morning rush hour. According to the police, there were “extensive traffic obstructions” in the Austrian capital.

Most blockades might be ended following regarding an hour. The police were on site with around 40 officers during the four actions in the metropolis.

According to the police, 14 people were involved in the blockades. A total of 38 reports were filed under the Assembly Act, the Security Police Act and the Road Traffic Act.

The activists had previously announced the action. the climate protector are demanding stricter climate targets from the Austrian government and a speed limit of 100 km/h on motorways.
