Kochi: Actor and producer Vijay Babu, who is accused in the rape case of a young actress who promised to give him a chance in cinema, will be questioned again. Police have directed Vijay Babu to appear before the court at 9 am. Vijay Babu, who went into hiding after the case, returned to Kochi from Dubai yesterday.

During interrogation yesterday, Vijay Babu revealed that he had sex with the consent of the actress who had lodged the complaint in the case. During interrogation at the Ernakulam South police station, Vijay Babu said that the case against him was fabricated.

Vijay Babu arrived at the Ernakulam Town South police station at 11 am. Kochi Police Commissioner H Nagaraju said that Vijay Babu returned after the police took strict action including cancellation of his passport and the aim of the police was to ensure justice for the complainant. The commissioner said that there were people who helped Vijay Babu to go into hiding and they would be found.

Vijay Babu told the police that the case was sparked by resentment over not being given a chance in the film and that no one had helped him to go into hiding. The police will not be able to arrest Vijay Babu as the High Court has issued an order.

Vijay Babu arrived in Nedumbassery from Dubai around 9.30 am on Wednesday. Vijay Babu went to the Datta Anjaneya Temple in Aluva from the airport. After visiting the temple, Vijay Babu told the media that he would co-operate with the investigation and had full confidence in the court. He said the truth would be proved and he would not comment further as the case was pending in the court and thanked those who had been present for so long.

Vijay Babu returned 39 days after he went abroad after evading the police. The High Court had yesterday granted interim anticipatory bail to Vijay Babu, directing him not to be arrested when he returns home.
