While Havrais and Lensois were going to part ways with a goalless draw, scuffles broke out in the stands of the Océane stadium. At the end of a balanced match where both teams could have won, it seems according to several videos shared on social networks that some Lensois supporters were attacked by some of their Le Havre counterparts.
The reason ? A Lensois goal scored by Florian Sotoca (90+3), finally flagged offside by the VAR. Blood and Gold fans who were very close to groups of opposing supporters then lit a smoke bomb and upset the latter, before the goal was refused.
Opening an investigation
According to a witness and a video circulating on social networks, a victim was evacuated on a stretcher. A judicial source indicated to 76 actuthat a preliminary investigation would be opened following the broadcast of these videos.
Paris Normandy collected several testimonies from spectators shocked by the events. One of them explains that “during the RC Lens goal which was subsequently canceled, these supporters could not contain their joy and expressed it a little too explicitly in the hearts of our most fervent supporters. They lit a smoke bomb and had a big panic,” before adding that “a gang of enraged supporters jumped on him wildly. The stewards were overwhelmed by this violence, no one talks about it but what courage and professionalism. They were just exceptional (…) Without them I think he (the spectator evacuated on a stretcher) could have died. »
