Visa and MasterCard suspended from service in Russia

Visa and MasterCard companies suspend all services in Russia in the wake of the 11th day of the Russian occupation of Ukraine. Visa and MasterCard will not be available in Russia until further notice.

They also said that Visa and MasterCard issued by Russian banks would not allow transactions outside of Russia. The companies added that they regret the inconvenience caused to users by this decision. “Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and the unacceptable events we have witnessed compel us to take such action,” said Al Kelly, chief executive officer of Visa.

The company said that MasterCard networks will no longer support their cards issued by Russian banks. The MasterCard also clarified that the company’s cards issued outside Russia will not work in Russian merchants or ATMs.

At the same time, as Russia’s aggression intensified, Ukraine called on NATO to provide fighter jets and defense equipment.
