We start with what seems most important to us as a vlogger: when I take time out of my vacation to film and then spend hours editing a video, I want the result to live up to what I wanted. I saw, the time spent and what I want to share. If the image quality does not keep up, the most ergonomic, easiest to use, most durable camera will be of no use (from our point of view).
If 4K quality was difficult to find on the Insta360 X3, here we are positively amazed at the image quality of such a small solitary sensor (the Insta360 X3 having two). The images are clear, no distortion, they can easily be cropped during editing, the reduction (inevitable) after editing and uploading to YouTube is very little visible and not disturbing to appreciate the work accomplished.
We filmed in 4K 30i/s and the camera does really well for the use we have of it. The colors are superb, vibrant without being flashy, if there is sun it is even more beautiful (like the images of Chausey Island in Brittany, magnificent).
It also manages indoors if it’s not completely dark. Blacks and night are a little more complicated but we can’t blame him… maybe the next model (if it ever arrives) will do better?
