Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić ignored attempts by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to put pressure on Belgrade. The Federal Chancellor again strongly urged Vučić to join EU sanctions against Russia, Archyde.com reported.
“As for sanctions, we have a different position,” the Serbian leader noted first of all. “We are mindful of the sanctions against Serbia and do not consider them effective,” Vucic recalled at a press conference in Belgrade.
He also stressed that Serbia is in a difficult position. Thus, Brussels should take into account that Moscow and Belgrade have a special relationship of trust.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is visiting the Western Balkans for the second day. The Federal Chancellor began his trip with the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo. Scholz, after meeting with “Prime Minister” Kurti, welcomed the decision of the Kosovo “government” to join the sanctions against the Russian Federation. According to the German leader, Pristina “stands on our side” in the world community.
