Thousands of Israelis demonstrated on Saturday January 20, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accused of continuing the war to stay in power. In this context, the Israeli army released images showing a tunnel in the Gaza Strip, where hostages were allegedly held.

The Israeli Defense Forces released images on Sunday January 21 of a Hamas tunnel where Israeli hostages were being held. Located in Khan Younes, in the south of the Gaza Strip, it is 830 meters long and 20 meters deep. After crossing the entrance to the underground, where hidden bombs awaited them, the army discovered a long electrical network, mattresses on the ground, piles of dishes, and even a bathroom.

“Around twenty hostages were held in this tunnel”

No hostages were found, they were all transferred. “The fighters located the opening of the tunnel, according to precise intelligence, in the house of a Hamas terrorist. (…) Around twenty hostages were held in this tunnel in difficult conditions“, declared Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for the Israeli army. According to the New York Times, the Hamas underground network extends over nearly 720 km in length and has 6,000 entrances.
