War in the East: Tshisekedi-Kagame round table, “the biggest nonsense of the second term”

Last updated Feb 24, 2024

The war in the east of the DRC is Félix Tshisekedi’s major concern after his re-election. The Head of State is keen to meet at the same table as Paul Kagame to discuss the modalities of the cessation of Rwandan activities on Congolese soil. For the boss of the greater Congo, the M23 and other rebel groups are only empty shells, hence the interest in treating the situation at the source.

However, Rwanda for its part has never publicly considered itself the author of the atrocities committed on Congolese soil by rebel groups. For more than a decade, Paul Kagame has always supported the reasoning that “what is happening in Congo is not his problem but that of the Congolese government”. As long as the King of Kigali does not accept the facts attributed to him, no discussion, whatever its pace, will succeed in restoring peace to the DRC.

Félix Tshisekedi should organize himself internally by initiating an effective and formidable army, capable of taking control of all Congolese lands currently under the control of the attackers. The more time passes, the more the number of deaths increases and the country is exploited illegally. The time has come for military action, say Congolese citizens. Rwanda is closed and only military operations can get the better of it.
