The number of people who are fleeing or have been expelled around the world has again increased rapidly in the past year. At the end of 2022, there were 108.4 million people displaced by war, persecution, violence and human rights abuses, according to a report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) released on Wednesday.
