War in Ukraine: update on January 23

With the German green light for sending Leopard heavy tanks type II to Ukraine by Poland, the war in Ukraine may well gain new momentum. Faced with this decision, Moscow immediately reacted and declared that:Supply in kyiv of offensive weapons would lead to a global catastrophe“, true to its strategy of fear by again raising the specter of a Third World War.

Because this decision of new military aids, associated with others, would reinforce the Ukrainian forces of Volodymyr Zelensky. A scenario that greatly irritates Moscow and the master of the Kremlin. Around him, many are those who advocate a runaway conflict before this aid is effective, in order to hope to bring the kyiv army to its knees before the arrival of new weapons.

On the ground, this has already materialized by a new offensive by Russian troops in the Zaporizhia region. Until now the belligerents camped on their positions. In Bakhmout, the mercenaries of Prigozhin’s private militia, PMC Wagner, continue the offensive against Ukrainian troops using well-established tactics, the same as those used last summer as a prelude to the major counter-offensive. Slowly retreat, inflicting as many losses as possible on the enemy, waiting for new aid and sacrificing as few men as possible.

In front of them however, the human waves follow one another. Real cannon fodder, the first Russian waves, less equipped and voluntarily sacrificed, aim to test the Ukrainian troops, before more trained troops go on the attack against tired and bruised Ukrainians.

Various military reports state a ratio of 1:6 to 10. For one dead Ukrainian soldier, 6 to 10 Russian soldiers would lose their lives. A disastrous tactic that of Moscow which does not seem to worry Putin and his friends, ready to multiply the mobilizations in order to feed their plan and win at all costs. According to the Pentagon, 188,000 Russians have lost their lives in Ukraine since the start of the invasion on February 24.
