Innsbruck election: Anzengruber won the runoff with 59.59 percent

The ex-ÖVP deputy mayor, who was excluded from his party, clearly prevailed in the runoff election on Sunday against incumbent Georg Willi with 59.59 percent of the vote. Willi got 40.41 percent and therefore has to vacate his chair after just one term in office. Voter turnout was 51.46 percent, a sharp decline compared to the first round on April 14th (60.5 percent).

In the direct mayoral election two weeks ago, “defending champion” Willi was still ahead with 22.89 percent. At that time, Anzengruber got 19.37 percent.
