PMC Wagner over the past year has significantly expanded its gold mining activities in the Central African Republic, writes Politico.

Russian mercenaries, according to the publication, citing a high-ranking official and diplomatic dispatches, among other things, have been guarding the Ndassima gold mine, located near the city of Bambari in the center of the country, since 2018. For several years, a huge complex for industrial gold mining was built there, which can bring up to one billion dollars a year.

The fact that companies associated with Prigozhin extract minerals in the Central African Republic, including at the Ndassima field, was previously written The Bell and BBC Russian Service.

The Ndassima field was to be visited by Russian journalists Orkhan Dzhemal, Kirill Radchenko and Alexander Rastorguev, who were killed in the Central African Republic in 2018, where they came to shoot a documentary about the Wagner PMC.
