Petro spent three months on the battlefront, in the Kherson area. That time was enough for him to lose his legs and part of his left hand after stepping on an explosive mine.

Exactly 90 days before he suffered that horror, he had a military instruction of only five Sundays.

He is proud to have fought against the Russians, whom he demonizes and fails to understand their territorial ambitions. He said that he would fight again in defense of his compatriots.

“It is a war without purpose. There is no point in attacking us. They could not calculate their forces. I don’t understand why they came, ”she said in the interview with Cadena 3.

Petro is the first veteran to receive bionic legs from the Lviv Center for Superhumans. And it took him eight months to learn how to use them and how to balance on them.

All his life he was a truck driver, a profession with which he toured much of Europe. And today he is dedicated to supporting his foundation, whose objective is to raise funds to buy vehicles that serve on the battlefront.

Moved, he affirmed that one can be happy after being in the war and tearfully hugged his two children and wife.

Petro received Cadena 3 and the Jean Maggi Foundation at his home on the outskirts of Lviv. With Oleana, his wife, they had organized an exquisite dinner for us.

At the moment of saying goodbye and after several toasts, because it was Oleana’s birthday, Petro took his military jacket and took off his combat insignia.

With his eyes full of tears, he gave us the shields and also his cap, raising his clenched fist to his heart, as if to leave no doubt that he was offering us his most precious treasures.

All tearful, we said goodbye assuming the commitment that we would see each other again.

Petro is another of the “green shoots” that we went looking for in the Ukraine.
