The actor Warwick Davis (52) told the British “Sun” how his family gathered around the hospital bed of his wife Samantha Davis (51) to say goodbye.
Of the «Harry Potter»-Star took his wife of 21 years to the hospital in 2019. The doctors diagnosed a sepsis infection. Sepsis is a blood poisoning or bloodstream infection and can arise as a life-threatening complication of a wide variety of infectious diseases. Samantha Davis underwent emergency surgery and survived.
Davis says: “Our family gathered at her bedside (…), we wanted to say goodbye, so to speak, in case Sam didn’t survive.” It was hard to see someone you love struggling to survive. Samantha Davis didn’t even have the strength to roll over in bed anymore.

The hours during which Samantha Davis was operated on were “the longest of my life,” Davis said. “As I waited in the empty room with our children on the ward, I hoped it wouldn’t symbolize our future without them.”
To this day, the actor suffers from the tragic event. “I broke down every night thinking that this terrible disease that came out of nowhere could have taken my soulmate away from me.”
“We don’t take life for granted”
But he also takes something away from it: “We no longer take life for granted and live every day as if it were our last.” He appreciates every moment he spends with his wife.
Warwick Davis was born with Congenital Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia, an extremely rare genetic form of short stature. Samantha Davis has achondroplasia, the most common form of short stature. Their two children, Annabelle, 25, and Harrison, 19, have the same type of short stature as their father. (paf)
