Al-Marsad newspaper: An Israeli soldier died of wounds sustained in an attack on Saturday evening in East Jerusalem, the Israeli army announced at dawn on Sunday.
The army said in a brief statement: “An Israeli soldier died during the night from serious wounds sustained in an armed attack on a checkpoint in Shuafat,” without specifying the identity of the soldier.
Police said earlier that a gunman opened fire on Israeli security forces at a checkpoint at the entrance to the Shuafat refugee camp, on the outskirts of Jerusalem near the West Bank, wounding 3 soldiers.
She added that the forces are searching for the attacker.
