The case of a “positive sample” of a Greek international soccer player, which caused a shock in the world of soccer, is developing into a thriller, as this information is not confirmed by any competent authority, while the ITA control body that did the sampling is not an official partner of Uefa. which has its own mechanism.
The EPO announced in a statement that it has no information regarding a positive doping sample of a football player of the national team.
In particular, the EPO took a position on the scenarios for identifying a Greek football player who tested positive for doping, with the football federation stressing that it has no such information.
We remind you that earlier in the day, a revelation was made through the “dikisports” website that a Greek football player of the National team was found positive in a doping test, without, however, making his name known.

Regarding publications referring to the finding of a positive sample of a football player of the Men’s National Team, it is announced that the Hellenic Football Federation has not received any relevant information.

At the given time there is no information from any competent authority about a positive sample in a Greek football player and this is not a guess, but the official position of EOCAN.
“The National Anti-Doping Organization has received absolutely no information about a positive sample of a Greek football player from the recent controls carried out at the matches of the National Team”, was the answer given to protothema.gr by the president of EOCAN Dr. Grigoris Leon.
In addition, given that the name of the football player who tested positive had already been mentioned in some media, Mr. Leon clarified that “both samples of the football player in question were negative. At the same time, having contacts with the laboratories that carry out the tests, we must mention that the rest of the samples that have been tested are also negative”.
At the same time, the position expressed by the Hellenic Football Federation is similar, as no information has reached the EPO either, and this is where the biggest question marks begin to arise.
As in the case of a positive sample, the control mechanisms are obliged to inform the National Anti-Doping Organization, but also the football federation of the country to which the player belongs, as well as his club and the player himself.
At the same time, another surprising element is that in the text of “dikisports”, which revealed the positive sample, reference is made to the International Testing Agency, as the control mechanism that carried out the sampling, however the ITA is not an official partner of either UEFA (European Football Federation which had responsibility for the specific match), nor FIFA (International Football Federation). And this element combined with the fact that UEFA has its own samplers (because it is a financially strong federation which can do it without thinking about the costs), but also the failure to inform the EPO, creates many questions.
