In the southern region of Río Negro the center has been operating for more than two decades “Together to Grow”. This organization is dedicated to provide support and opportunities to people with disabilities and managed to generate an undeniable impact on the community over the years.

What emerged as an incipient activity in 2002 to respond to a local problem was established over the years in a community alternative that marks the work agenda on this issue in the towns of the southern region.

Integrated Community Care represents in many aspects a paradigm shift. It certainly shares with Comprehensive Community Care the ambition to improve the quality of services and the quality of life of individuals, families and communities. A fundamental aspect is that it also contributes to access to health and social care.

“The organization tries to be an alternative for care and preventionwhich helps generate a process of equality, social and economic improvement of one of the most vulnerable sectors of society,” says Karina Perdomo, the president of the center.

Since its foundation, they have worked to create an inclusive environment in which their members can develop their jobs or trades and learn through workshops to grow professionally.

The center offers a wide range of workshops coveringFrom physical education and cooking to art, recycling and gardening.

One of the most in-demand workshops is radio and television. Marcos Poltronieri, responsible for this workshop, told us about this proposal: “Participants learn to create content, from notes and interviews to complete television programs,” he assured.

The members of this workshop have a weekly program on Radio Nacional Jacobacci and on a local channel. There they share interviews and information linked to current events in the southern regionwith interviews with its main protagonists.

”The intention is that through our projects we can make a contribution to society. That is why we promote that each workshop is connected to community needs, in this case, information and entertainment,” adds Marcos.
