Since Friday, the tennis club of the town has been organizing a padel tournament for the first time, the mixed P1000, which puts the best French players in competition. This derivative of tennis from Mexico and popularized in Spain continues to win new followers in France, including the famous TV host Cyril Hanouna. Currently ranked 136th French player, he has until tonight to accumulate points and get closer to his goal, the top 100!

A great source of inspiration for the nearly 325 padel licensees of the tennis club (out of 550), where a good part of the top 20 French women also train all year round, on magnificent outdoor courts overlooking the sea.

Between two matches, Cyril Hanouna was kind enough to share his impressions with us.

How long have you been passionate about padel?

I came from tennis, otherwise it’s complicated. I have been playing padel thoroughly for three years and I train three to four times a week. For a year, I have been playing a lot with Johan Bergeron, the sixth French player. With the whole team, for the past week, we have been training together every day and we are having a house tournament tomorrow, we are continuing. I am the player who has made the most tournaments, I am almost at 90 this year.

What do you like so much about this sport?

We are a team, all together, it’s a bit like a vacation. We’re with friends and we put pressure on each other, that’s what we love! With matches like that, very tight, I feel emotions that I only know from TV. (turning to one of his teammates) The super tie-break was still something!

Did you know Bandol?

No, but I came to play in Toulon a month ago and the organizers Hugo Donne (TC Bandol) and Vincent Montagnac (Box to Box Agency, sports communication) told me about this tournament in Bandol. It’s a city that I didn’t know but I love playing here, the people are love and there is an atmosphere. I discover all of France thanks to the tournaments!

What will be next?

It will be in Palavas-les-Flots on August 23 and 24.
