Liverpool FC coach Jürgen Klopp confirmed during a press conference that his club was after Jude Bellingham, who was still playing for Borussia Dortmund, last summer.

Klopp told journalists: “We were interested in Bellingham, but we realized it wasn’t working out.”
He then looked back at the summer transfer window: “The market for sixes was getting hotter and hotter. Two sixes had left us, but we already had MacAllister. We thought we might be able to get Caicedo, tried hard, but he was already in the word with Chelsea and Pochettino. Then Lavia canceled, he had his own reasons. So we stood there – and then we found our top solutions,” said Klopp, referring to the late transfers of Endo and Szoboszlai.
Liverpool are currently leading the Premier League table, but a transfer of Jude Bellingham would certainly not have hurt the Reds.
The Englishman has had a sensational season since moving to Madrid: he has already scored 14 times in 18 league games in Spain. In doing so, he allows Real to forget the Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, who moved to Al-Ittihad.
