According to a recent study published in The Lancet, the use of hearing aids could reduce the risk of cognitive decline in 48 %.

This would concern adults with more risk factors dementia such as high blood pressure and higher rates of diabetes.

Out of 1,000 adults aged 70 to 84, two groups were formed, one of which included people with dementia risk higher.

The results obtained enabled the researchers to suggest “that a intervention auditive may reduce cognitive change over 3 years in older adult populations at increased risk of cognitive decline, but not in populations at reduced risk of cognitive decline. »

This confirms the importance of getting tested in case of hearing loss.
