Weather: after a particularly hot summer, are we going to experience a new heat wave?

We are witnessing a new surge in the thermometer. There have already been several phases of high heat in the country. Back to these key moments, in dates and temperatures.

Summer 2022 in three stages:

  • The first episode, the peak. Two dates to remember: July 18 and 19, which respectively experienced 33°C then 38°C at Uccle, the reference station. This episode was followed by cooling for a few days although we exceeded 30 degrees on July 24 and then 28 degrees on August 2.
  • The second episode follows: the real heat wave. For nine days, from August 9 to 18, 30 degrees were felt for three consecutive days and then at least 25 degrees five days in a row. Then the wave withdrew for three short days before coming back a little less strong.
  • The third episode comes next: a mini wave. 27, 28 then more than 30 degrees this Wednesday and Thursday. From Friday, the temperatures will go down. We cannot therefore speak of a second wave.
