[Weather Center] Forest Fire Alert Continues with High Temperatures and Dryness, but Possible Rainy Relief Tomorrow

Yesterday saw over 30 forest fires break out in quick succession, with dry warnings issued in most parts of the country. Today, the temperature in Seoul is 27℃ with dry weather, increasing the risk of further wildfires. Fortunately, rain is expected tomorrow, which should slow the outbreak of wildfires. Yesterday’s wildfires were primarily concentrated in the metropolitan area and Chungcheong area due to the northern part of the East Sea’s high pressure leading to easterly winds. As low pressure approaches from the West Sea tomorrow, heavy rain is expected, predicted to be more than 30mm. In April, dry and strong winds can lead to large-scale wildfires, and special attention is advised.

Yesterday, more than 30 wildfires broke out one after another while dry warnings were issued in most parts of the country.

Today, as the hot and dry weather continues, the possibility of forest fires is high.

Fortunately, there is a forecast for rain tomorrow, so the wildfire outbreak is expected to slow down for a while.

Red flames rise with thick smoke.

Forest fire extinguishing helicopters spray water continuously, but it is not enough to extinguish the strong flames.

Yesterday, Gyeonggi Cat rose to 27 degrees, Gyeonggi Dongducheon 26.2 degrees, and Seoul to 25.2 degrees, showing early summer weather even though it was the first week of April.

Yesterday alone, more than 30 wildfires broke out across the country, and unlike many wildfires in the east coast in spring, most of them were concentrated in the metropolitan area and Chungcheong area yesterday.

This is because the high pressure in the northern part of the East Sea blew easterly winds, and on the contrary, the western area became hot and dry.

Today, while the country is generally clear, the high temperature during the day in Seoul rises to 27 degrees, and the hot and dry weather is expected to continue, so special attention is needed to prevent forest fires.

However, due to the influence of low pressure approaching from the West Sea tomorrow, it is expected that it will rain in the central region and Jeolla region, starting with Jeju Island from late afternoon tomorrow.

Although there is great variability in the path of low pressure, the Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that this rain would rain a lot compared to spring.

As it rains tomorrow, the wildfires that raged yesterday and today are expected to slow down for a while, but in April, dry and strong winds often blow, so special attention is needed as the risk of large-scale wildfires is high.

With dry and hot weather continuing to grip the country, the risk of forest fires remains high. Yesterday saw over 30 wildfires break out in various parts of the nation, with most concentrated around metropolitan and Chungcheong areas. However, a forecast for rain tomorrow brings some optimism, although it is important not to let attention slip as dry and strong winds often blow in April, posing a risk for large-scale wildfires. It is crucial to remain vigilant as we enter the summer months and take necessary precautions to prevent such disasters from happening.
