weather: dog finds human bones in the creek – homicide | Regional

Weather in the Ruhr (NRW) – Gruesome find in a creek in Wetter-Volmarstein (Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis) on the A1: A walker came across human bone parts while going for a walk. Now the homicide detective is investigating.

Already on Saturday, a woman’s dog found bone parts and parts of the lower jaw in the creek. Initial investigations confirmed the suspicion that the remains were human.

Further investigations were initiated immediately: on Monday afternoon, a cadaver dog and a bone detector dog were used by the police – the area could then be narrowed down. A homicide commission from the Hagen police then took over the investigation.

The police also relied on the sensitive noses of sniffer dogs

“The situation in which they were found meant that one can assume that it was a capital crime and not a natural cause of death,” said chief public prosecutor Michael Burggräf on site.

Task forces from the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) supported the investigators in their search in the late afternoon. The site was extensively dug up for several hours.

Due to the slope, a special excavator (“walking excavator”) was used and supported the work. More bone parts were found in the ground.

Possible pieces of evidence and bone parts are now being examined more closely by forensic medicine

For tactical reasons, the public prosecutor’s office did not want to disclose the extent of the find. It is still unclear whether the location was also the crime scene. The human remains are now being examined in Dortmund’s forensic medicine department.

A genetic examination is carried out by the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in Düsseldorf. To establish gender and identity and how long the bones had been there.
