Weather in Austria remains summery despite showers

Although there was no major heat wave, it was still warm: the weather in Austria will continue to present itself from its summery side in the coming week – with outliers from the middle of the week. Then isolated showers could move across the country, reported Geosphere Austria on Sunday.

On Monday, mostly sunny and summery weather is expected to continue in most regions. At first the sun often shines undisturbed, during the course of the day some cumulus clouds form. Very isolated local rain showers are to be expected in the afternoon. The tendency to shower is greatest in the north-east and also in the far west, according to the Geosphere. A cold front will also arrive here in the evening and with it rain showers will spread over a larger area on Tuesday night. The wind is usually weak during the day, but moderate westerly winds gradually pick up in the west. The early temperatures are forecast at ten to 17 degrees, the maximum daily temperatures between 25 and 31 degrees.

With a westerly to north-westerly current, many cloud fields will pass through on Tuesday and the sun will only appear occasionally. In most regions, however, it remains dry, only in the south and south-east does the risk of showers increase more and more during the day, and thunderstorms can also be intercalated. There is little wind here, otherwise there is a moderate west to north-west wind blowing in the north and east. Depending on the wind, the early temperatures are forecast at 14 to 20 degrees, the maximum daily temperatures at between 20 and 26 degrees.

On Wednesday, a low-pressure vortex will direct cool and fairly humid air masses to the north side of the Alps and the eastern half of Austria. This means unstable weather in many regions, with a few rain showers and sunny periods in between. In the southwest and in the far west, however, a rather sunny weather character could soon set in. In the foothills of the Alps and in the east, a brisk west-northwest wind will blow temporarily in open areas. The early temperatures are given as between eleven and 16 degrees, daily maximum temperatures are usually only between 18 and 25 degrees.

On Thursday high pressure will bring lots of sunshine overall. In some regions, harmless cloud fields are also noticeable. The tendency to shower in the afternoon remains very low during the day, even in the vicinity of the main Alpine ridge. In the eastern lowlands, a moderate north-west wind will blow in places, otherwise the wind will be weak. The morning temperatures are nine to 17 degrees, daily maximum temperatures between 23 and 29 degrees.

Most of the time on Friday it will still be friendly and at least partly sunny, throughout the day and even in the mountains the chance of showers will remain relatively low for the time being. However, in the west and south-west, approximately as far as Upper Carinthia, gradually increasing cloud cover, sometimes with strong swelling, must be expected due to the approach of a low-pressure channel. There is a risk of heavy rain in connection with thunderstorms from the evening hours. At the eastern edge of the Alps and in the far east, the south-east wind will pick up moderately to briskly at times, otherwise it will remain rather weak winds away from heavy rain cells. The morning temperatures are 10 to 18 degrees, the maximum daily temperatures are 23 to 30 degrees.
