Weekly Fantasy Football Injury Report: Major Updates on Key Players’ Status for Week 9

This is a team-by-team review of any key fantasy football player injury news after this week’s practice activity and team statements. Only those players listed on the team’s official injury report will be addressed, unless the situation warrants further attention.

PLEASE NOTE: The NFL releases its final official injury report each Friday (approximately 5:30 p.m. ET). West Coast teams often report their injuries late and may not be included in the initial publication.

Week 9 fantasy football injury report

This week’s key game-time decisions: WR Josh Downs, QB Matthew Stafford, WR Puka Nacua, QB Kyler Murray

ARIZONA CARDINALS
RB James Conner remains on IR. QB Kyler Murray (knee) is questionable and will travel with the team, but rookie QB Clayton Tune took first-team reps and is expected to start. RB Emari Demercado (toe) didn’t participate all week and is out. WR Michael Wilson (shoulder) sat out each day but is still questionable.

ATLANTA FALCONS
WR Drake London (groin) will not play in Week 9.

BALTIMORE RAVENS
WR Odell Beckham Jr. (shoulder) practiced fully Friday and will play. RB Gus Edwards (toe) fully practiced the last two days and isn’t on the injury report. RT Moses Morgan (shoulder) is doubtful.

BUFFALO BILLS
TE Dawson Knox (wrist) went on IR after wrist surgery. QB Josh Allen (shoulder) fully practiced the last two days and avoided an injury tag.

CAROLINA PANTHERS
RB Miles Sanders (calf) practiced in full on Friday and doesn’t have a tag. WR DJ Chark Jr. (elbow) is questionable, whereas WR Laviska Shenault Jr. (ankle) was ruled out after not practicing all week. S Vonn Bell (quad) was limited all week and is doubtful.

CHICAGO BEARS
RB Khalil Herbert (ankle) remains on IR. QB Justin Fields (thumb) is doubtful. Chicago’s defense will be without CB Terrell Smith (illness), LB Terrell Edmunds (knee), and S Jaquan Brisker (concussion). AND Nate Davis (ankle) also has been ruled out.

CINCINNATI BENGALS
RB Joe Mixon
(chest) is questionable but fully practiced in consecutive sessions to close out the week.

CLEVELAND BROWNS
QB Deshaun Watson (shoulder) fully practiced Friday and will start. RB Jerome Ford (ankle) and TE David Njoku (knee) both fully practiced Friday, too, and are not on the injury report. WR Amari Cooper (rest, ankle) went DNP, limited, and full to close out the practice week without a designation.

DALLAS COWBOYS
WR Michael Gallup (illness) fully practiced Thursday and Friday after sitting Wednesday; he’s not on the report. LT Tyron Smith (neck) is questionable and a game-time decision.

DENVER BRONCOS – bye week
No injuries of fantasy relevance.

DETROIT LIONS – bye week
RB David Montgomery (ribs) should return after the bye.

GREEN BAY PACKERS
TE Luke Musgrave (ankle) was limited all week but is free of an injury label. RB Aaron Jones (hamstring) is in the same boat. Both are expected to start.

HOUSTON TEXANS
WR Robert Woods (foot), RB Damien Pierce (knee), and TE Brevin Jordan (foot) have been ruled out.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
RB Zack Moss (heel) didn’t practice Friday but is not on the injury report. WR Josh Downs (knee) is questionable after being limited Thursday and Friday. RT Braden Smith (hip, wrist) has been ruled out, and LB Zaire Franklin (knee) is questionable after failing to practice all week. He’s a game-time-decision.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS – bye week
WR Zay Jones (knee) could return after Week 9’s bye.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
RB Jerick McKinnon (groin) had full session Friday and will play. The same protocol was followed for QB Patrick Mahomes (hand), WR Skyy Moore (heel), and WR Kadarius Toney (ankle).

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
LB Divine Deablo (ankle) will not play. DE Maxx Crosby (knee, ankle) and PK Daniel Carlson (groin) avoided an injury tag.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS – Monday night
TE Gerald Everett (hip) fully practiced Thursday and Friday. WR Joshua Palmer (knee) sat out Thursday and Friday. QB Justin Herbert (finger) fully practiced Thursday and Friday.

LOS ANGELES RAMS
RB Kyren Williams (ankle) remains on IR. QB Matthew Stafford (thumb) is questionable and a game-time decision, but it will be a near miracle if he starts after missing the full practice week. WR Puka Nacua (knee) was limited all week and is questionable, too. Expect this one to go to the wire. LB Ernest Jones (knee) has been ruled out.

MIAMI DOLPHINS
RB De’Von Achane (knee) remains on IR until Week 11. RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) was limited Thursday and Friday but isn’t on the report. WR Jaylen Waddle (back) was a full participant all week and will play. CB Xavien Howard (groin) and LT Terron Armstead (knee) questionable after three straight limited practices.

Fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em: Week 9

MINNESOTA VIKINGS
WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring) remains on IR with a hamstring injury. WR K.J. Osborn (chest) upgraded to a full practice Friday and will play.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
WR DeVante Parker (concussion) couldn’t clear the protocol and won’t play. LT Trent Brown (ankle, knee), CB Jonathan Jones (knee), and WR Tyquan Thornton (foot) are questionable.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
QB/TE Taysom Hill (hip) fully practiced Friday and isn’t on the report. WR Michael Thomas (illness) is ready to roll, while RB Kendre Miller (illness) is questionable after not practicing Friday.

NEW YORK GIANTS
QB Daniel Jones (neck) will return this week. TE Darren Waller (hamstring) is out at least one week. RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) upgraded to a full practice Friday and will play. PK Graham Gano (knee) is out. WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee) was removed from the report on Friday. RT Evan Neal (ankle) and LT Andrew Thomas (hamstring) are questionable after being limited all week.

NEW YORK JETS – Monday night
WR Randall Cobb (shoulder) fully practiced Thursday and Friday.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
RB Boston Scott (personal) has been ruled out.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS – Played Thursday
TE Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) remains on IR. LB Cole Holcomb (knee) will miss the rest of 2023 after suffering a serious injury vs. Tennessee.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS – bye week
WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder) has a chance to return in Week 10.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
WR Tyler Lockett (hamstring) went from DNP to limited to full and doesn’t have an injury tag. WR DK Metcalf (hip) isn’t on the report and returned to a full session after sitting Thursday.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
QB Baker Mayfield (knee) fully practiced all week and will play. WR Mike Evans rested Friday but doesn’t have a designation.

TENNESSEE TITANS – Played Thursday
QB Ryan Tannehill (ankle) did not play in Week 9

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS
WR Curtis Samuel (foot) sat all week and has been ruled out. TE Logan Thomas (heel) fully practiced the last two days and doesn’t have an injury label.
