This weekend, the Easter market “Spring Awakening at Weinberg Castle” brings traditional customs and Easter crafts into the charming ambience of the mighty Renaissance castle in Kefermarkt. More than 80 exhibitors enliven the castle, which has been decorated for spring by the district farmers. Furthermore, the Mühlviertel nativity scene friends present representations of the Stations of the Cross in the castle chapel, artistically implemented in reverse glass painting and nativity scene construction made of wood.
There is a colorful children’s program for the youngest visitors: The magician “Illusian” will captivate children and parents with entertaining tricks. The Easter Bunny will also be available for photos with small gifts. The Easter market leaves nothing to be desired in terms of culinary delights with “baked mice”, Baumkuchen and other delicacies.
Living workshops
Visitors can have interesting conversations at the living workshops: regional exhibitors such as willow binder Elisabeth Lengauer from Baumgartenberg have been loyal to the Easter market for years. Lengauer works exclusively with willow from the region, which she soaks and then turns into practical works of art: “Baskets, bowls and decorative items can be made from willow in numerous variations.” She passes on her knowledge in courses. At the Easter market in Weinberg Castle, visitors can look over Elisabeth Lengauer’s shoulder while she is tying and watch how a wicker basket is made. She is also one of many exhibitors showcasing their craft this weekend.
The free Easter Express takes visitors directly from the parking lot near the train station up to the castle and back again.
