West Chester Malayali Association’s Grand Onam Celebration: Onasadya, Thiruvathira, and Cultural Programs in New York

Association Treasurer Alexander Varghese has announced that this year’s Onagosh of the West Chester Malayali Association will be held on Saturday, September 9th from 11 am to 6 pm at the auditorium of Greenburgh High School (475 West Hartsdale Ave, Hartsdale, NY).

Hundreds of family members of the eighth seafarers are celebrating this year’s Onam in a grand manner like every year at the West Chester Malayali Association. Along with the Chenda Mela, Shinkari Mela and Band Mela are all combined to celebrate Maveli this year. Alathur MP Ramya Haridas attending this year’s Onam celebrations will be a unique experience.

Onasadya is loved by young and old people irrespective of caste and religion. Onam is a festival of togetherness when we eat together. Seeing this, three famous restaurants in New York have been commissioned for Ona Sadya. They are trying their best to make the Onasadya an unforgettable experience in their lives. West Chester’s Onam and Onasadya have always been popular among Malayalam Americans.

Mega Thiruvathira is also a special feature of Westchester Onagosh. Sheeja Nishad is working behind the scenes along with Bindhya Sabari, a famous dancer from Tristate. Art programs are organized for Onam that evoke all the emotions of Onam. It is led by Devika Nair and Lisa Joseph, the leading dancers of Tristate. Alexander Varghese informed that this year’s Onam has been organized with many innovative programs.

President Terenceon Thomas, Secretary Sholi Kumbalavelil, Treasurer Alexander Varghese, Vice President Anto Varki, Joint KG are requesting the cooperation of all Malayali brothers who are residents of New York to make this year’s Onam Ghosha a success. Janardhanan, Board of Trustees John K Mathew, Coordinator Joy Itten and Cultural Coordinator Nirish Oommen informed.
