West Jakarta Reports 1,852 Dengue Cases Through October 2026

Jakarta Barat recorded 1,852 dengue fever cases between January and late October, marking a significant drop from the previous year when the area led the capital in infections, ANTARA News reported.

Public Health Monitoring Tracks Viral Transmission Rates

  • Epidemiological Surveillance: Public health monitoring relies on active larval checks and epidemiological investigations to track viral transmission rates in dense urban settlements.
  • Community Vector Control: Preventing transmission requires eliminating standing water habitats through structured cleaning movements rather than relying solely on governmental intervention.

Monitoring Dengue Rates Across Jakarta Barat

The West Jakarta Health Agency, known locally as Suku Dinas Kesehatan (Sudinkes) Jakarta Barat, released data showing 1,852 accumulated cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD) across the region from January through October 29. Sahruna, the head of Sudinkes Jakarta Barat, confirmed the figures in Jakarta, noting that the total represents cases logged through the end of the ten-month tracking period.

The current figures display a downward trajectory in disease incidence when matched against the preceding year. According to koran-jakarta.com, West Jakarta recorded the highest dengue caseload in all of DKI Jakarta in 2025, reaching 2,548 cases by mid-October. Last year’s transmission peak occurred in May, which saw a monthly total of 362 infections.

Community Members Must Intensify Mosquito Nest Eradication

To suppress further viral transmission, Sahruna urged community members and regional stakeholders to intensify the Mosquito Nest Eradication movement, known locally as Pemberantasan Sarang Nyamuk (PSN). He emphasized that controlling the vector-borne disease depends heavily on public participation in eliminating breeding sites for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, rather than resting entirely on state measures.

The agency relies on residents acting independently as Jumantik (Larvae Monitoring Jumantik) within their own households. Local health clinics, or puskesmas, continuously monitor infection rates and transmission speeds while conducting epidemiological investigations on every identified case alongside the 3M Plus PSN movement.

Reporting Period Total Dengue Cases in West Jakarta Regional Context
January to Mid-October 2025 2,548 cases Highest in DKI Jakarta; peak in May (362 cases)
January to October 29, 2026 1,852 cases Demonstrates a downward trend compared to the previous year

Puskesmas Maintain Vector Surveillance in Residential Neighborhoods

Puskesmas across West Jakarta maintain vector surveillance in residential neighborhoods alongside widespread public health promotion campaigns detailing the pathology of dengue. Field health officers execute rapid epidemiological investigations whenever a positive case emerges, reinforcing community-level defenses against the viral pathogen.
