A significant boost to tourism, but also to the commercial world of Western Achaia, is expected to be given through the beaches, as after the announcement by the Ministry of Finance about the beaches that can be leased, we see that the majority of them belong to Western Achaia.
The announcement of the competent ministryregarding the 1,200 beaches available for online rental for the summer of 2024, produced a total of 8 beaches in Achaiaof which the 5 west of Patras. Specifically, the beaches that were auctioned are: Egalis, Diakopto, Eleona Aigio, Aktaeo in Rio, Agia Paraskevi and Alykon in Kato Achaia, Kalamaki and Karavostasi in Lakkopetra and Bouka in Kalogria.

The auctions pertain to placement of sunbeds and umbrellas, except for the beach of Agia Paraskevi in K. Achaia and Alykes, also in K. Achaia – only canteen. They are scheduled for May 29while starting values that vary by region are already set.
The president of the Trade Association – Professionals of Dymis, Andreas Fotou stated to “Peloponnese” that indirectly the members of the organization will get many benefits from the canteens lease. “I know there will be interest from businessmen to lease the beaches and canteens and this is very positive because it will help the area with the arrival of bathers this summer. This will have benefits for our industry as well, as the economy will be stimulated through catering and other categories of summer shops.”
It is recalled that with the new law, the auctions for the concession of seafront and beach sections are now exclusively done digitally through the special platform. The announcement is posted on the platform and website of the relevant Municipality, with coordinates and aerial photos of each concession, duration, conditions of concession, time of installation and removal of movable elements.
Concessionaires pay a minimum price, based on the objective values of the area and the special characteristics of the beach.
It is noted that beach and beach concessions are not allowed when the their length or width is less than 4 meters or when the total area of the beach is less than 150 sq.m. In addition, concessionaires are required to ensure that at least 50% of the beach must remain free and umbrella seats can occupy up to 60% of the concession area.
