Do you regularly play on your smartphone and would like to have a device in your hands that is as worthy as your scores? We selected the Asus ROG Phone 7, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro, OnePlus 11 and POCO X5 Pro. But between them, which one is really made for you? Here are some comparisons between the devices to get an idea and select yours.

Design is somewhat everyone’s business. The Asus ROG Phone 7 offers sleek lines with a hull that has several patterns and the photo sensors are aligned horizontally on a plate. There is an animated screen on the back. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the most streamlined of all, offering camera lenses just placed on the back of the device with completely flat upper and lower profiles. The Red Magic 8 Pro offers a rather rectangular shape, also with flat profiles and photo sensors installed vertically, in the center, at the back. A version is transparent allowing you to see the colored ventilation system on the back. The OnePlus 11 has pleasant lines with a block of optics inscribed in a circle which seems to want to return to one of the profiles. The POCO X5 Pro displays a black band on the back with, in the corner, the photo sensors and also offering flat edges. They are available in different colors that everyone will appreciate.

Among the mobiles we have selected, the POCO X5 Pro is the lightest with a weight of 181 grams. Then there is the OnePlus 11 with 205 grams then the Red Magic 8 Pro with 228 grams then the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra with 233 grams and the Asus ROG Phone 7 with 239 grams. The latter is also the thickest with a profile of 10.3 mm against 8.9 mm for the Samsung and Red Magic while the OnePlus 11 offers a thickness of 8.53 mm and the POCO X5 Pro of 7.9 mm. It is the latter which is the most compact while the ROG Phone 7 is the largest and therefore the bulkiest.
To work, the Red Magic 8 Pro and Asus ROG Phone 7 have 6000 mAh batteries supporting the charge at 65 watts. The other three have a 5000 mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the slowest to charge with a maximum power of 45 watts, but it’s the only one to offer wireless charging. The OnePlus 11 charges at 100 watts and is therefore the fastest to fill its battery against 67 watts for the POCO X5 Pro.

Which offers the best performance?

To play, it is important to have as powerful a machine as possible in your hands. From this point of view, it is the Galaxy S23 Ultra which offers the best raw performance with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy chipset which benefits from a higher clock frequency than that of the classic version of the Soc, at the level from its main core. It is associated with 12 GB of RAM. Then, the ROG Phone 7, Red Magic 8 Pro and OnePlus 11 share the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with 16 GB of RAM. The significantly more affordable POCO X5 Pro makes do with a fully capable Snapdragon 778G chipset for gaming. The mobiles are available with a minimum storage space of 128 GB which can reach up to 1 TB, especially for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. None can support adding a memory card.

They are all 5G compatible. The POCO X5 Pro offers Wi-Fi 5, which is decent, but not the best. The Galaxy S23 Ultra offers much better Wi-Fi 6E, but the other three have a Wi-Fi 6E chip that’s already set to upgrade to Wi-Fi 7, via an upcoming update, meaning that they can already take advantage of the best speeds, but will also be able to benefit from the technical advances made possible with the next Wi-Fi standard. The POCO X5 Pro, the Red Magic 8 Pro and the Asus ROG Phone 7 are equipped with an audio port to connect headphones. They all deliver stereo sound.

There is a fingerprint reader on the sleep button on the POCO X5 Pro while it is under the screen of the other four. This one of the Red Magic 8 Pro is able to read the heart rate of the user.

For games, the ROG Phone 7 and Red Magic 8 Pro are equipped with sensitive triggers on one of the profiles allowing you to play like with a real controller and take advantage of your opponents. The Asus mobile has two ports for recharging, one on the lower profile while the other is installed on the side profile. Specific graphical interfaces have been developed to give the impression of being immersed in the games.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is certified waterproof, which is also the case of the OnePlus 11, but only for dust, being able to resist only splashes, like the Asus ROG Phone 7. The Samsung mobile is sold with a stylus to take notes, draw and trigger the camera remotely, for example.

What is the best screen and what configuration for photos?

To play, it is interesting to have a nice screen. All have AMOLED panels. The larger ones are installed on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Red Magic 8 Pro measuring 6.8 inches diagonally. The first is curved, like the OnePlus 11, but 6.7 inches. The screens of the Samsung, OnePlus 11 and ROG Phone 7 are HDR10+ compatible while Dolby Vision is supported only by the display surface of the OnePlus 11. All benefit from an automatic variable refresh rate, except for the POCO X5 Pro where you have to choose it manually, up to 120 Hz, but the ROG Phone 7 can go up to 165 Hz. The touch sampling rate of the latter is 720 Hz against 960 Hz for the Red Magic 8 Pro. The screen of the ROG Phone 7 measures 6.78 inches diagonally while that of the POCO X5 Pro is 6.67 inches. The brightest screen is Samsung’s, followed by the ROG Phone 7, Red Magic 8 Pro and OnePlus 11.

Finally, for the photos even if it is not necessarily a main activity for you, these mobiles are quite capable of producing very beautiful images. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra benefits from an extremely versatile block of 200 + 12 + 10 + 10 megapixels. The OnePlus 11 is thus equipped with a configuration of 50 + 48 + 32 megapixels with a 2x optical zoom. The ROG Phone 7 has an optically stabilized 50-megapixel main sensor with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and an 8-megapixel macro sensor.
The POCO X5 Pro has a 108+8+2 megapixel block while the Red Magic 8 Pro has a 50+8+2 megapixel configuration. The latter has the advantage of not having any discomfort on the screen due to its front sensor because it is a module under the 16-megapixel screen. All other mobiles have a perforated screen with 16 megapixel sensors also for the OnePlus 11 and POCO X5 Pro, 12 megapixels for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and 32 megapixels on the front of the Asus ROG Phone 7.
