What are you up to, Jackson Richardson?

Each major handball competition, and the successes of the French team that go with it, is an inevitable opportunity to think back to Jackson Richardson, the one who took his sport to another dimension.

In July 2021, Jackson Richardson took his first steps as a new member of the management of the French beach handball teams. Then Melvyn’s father – who brilliantly takes over almost 30 years later, Olympic champion and part of the Blues at the World Cup this beginning of the year -, more recently, had a small health problem. Four months ago, in September, he relayed a photo of himself in a hospital bed.

“A small operation, nothing serious”

Without knowing much more, he was content to reassure his followers in the same movement: “I was very touched by all the messages you sent me. My goal was not at all to worry. In difficult times, it is above all necessary to keep smiling and sharing. I had a small operation, nothing serious, but it had to be done.” Everything went well, and since then, at the age of 53, the leader of the 1995 world champions Barjots (the precursors of the immense success of French handball which continues to perpetuate) seems to be resting on his native island of the meeting. He regularly publishes videos, including one with the family for his New Year’s Eve, at the table, to wish a happy new year 2023.

Jackson Richardson also oscillates between many analyzes of handball, thoroughly on the campaign of the moment for the Blues at the World Cup, and inspiring messages where he relays his philosophy, notably opposing fixed mindsets to those who have “a growth mentality”: “Those who believe that their basic qualities are the things they can cultivate with effort, who see mistakes as opportunities to learn, who accept challenges and like to learn things they discover, who are attentive to the lessons of life. Lessons that are often hard, severe, rough… But by learning to do in the face of the obstacles that life presents to us, we become stronger and more resistant, more tenacious to life.” Also a business consultant, he should take the opportunity to further distill these words.
