The nomination of Luis Enrique to take over the position of coaching the Brazil national team opened the door to a lot of criticism of the former Spain coach, and the first to attack the Spanish coach was Luis Felipe Scolari, another World Cup winner with Brazil in 2002 and the current technical director of Atletico Paranaense.
In statements highlighted by the Spanish newspaper “Sport”, Scolari believes that Enrique lacks championships and will not be able to lead the Seleçao, saying: “What did he win? He must perform, he is very good, but he lost everything. What does that mean that he is good? Mourinho won everything Thing”.
Scolari added, attacking the idea of signing a European coach, saying: “If I can lead other teams, why can’t they? If they have the quality they should take charge of Brazil, I think it will be easier to appoint a coach from South America than a European man.”
Edinaldo Rodriguez, President of the Brazilian Confederation, intends to travel to Europe in the coming weeks to complete the contract with the new coach of the Seleção, who will be a foreigner, breaking with the traditions in effect so far by appointing a Brazilian coach.
It is worth noting that Enrique, in three seasons with Barcelona, led them to win nine titles, and since his departure, the Blaugrana club has not been able to win the Champions League, while he led Spain in the 2022 World Cup and was deposited in the round of 16 by Morocco.
