At nearly 830 meters tall, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa has been the world’s tallest tower since its completion in 2010. Today, 14 years later, the colossus still retains this title, which one might have thought impossible given the extravagant celebrations surrounding its completion. At the time, the race for “megatalls”—skyscrapers over 600 meters tall—seemed to still be in full swing.
